At the New Zealand Education Conference Award Ceremony held in August 2004, Minister Steve Maharey (Associate Minister of Education) presented Judy Glue, Nayland's director of international students, the Excellence in Pastoral Care Award for international students.

This was the most highly contested section so Nayland can be deservedly proud to be amongst the top of the more than 400 institutions represented, testament to Judy, her pastoral team, our staff and the many supportive homestay families in our community.
